What are Zircon Bricks?

Zircon brick is a refractory material mainly composed of zirconium silicate (zircon sand), containing 67.23% zirconia and 32.77% silicon oxide. Tetragonal system, usually in the shape of a quadrangular column. The Mohs hardness is 7.5, and the expansion coefficient at 20 to 1000°C is 4.2×10-6/°C. Melting point 2430 ℃. Bulk density 3.60 ~ 4.3g/cm3. Apparent porosity is 0% to 18%. The softening temperature under load>1550℃. It is prepared by semi-dry pressing and calcining at 1600 °C.

Application and characteristics of zircon bricks. Zircon bricks can be used as large bricks at the bottom of glass pool kilns and upper structural materials. In the field of metallurgy, zircon bricks can be used as ladle linings and sizing nozzles for continuous steel injection. High refractoriness, high softening temperature, strong resistance to slag liquid erosion, strong acid resistance, high compressive strength, and good thermal shock resistance.
