Lightly Calcined Magnesium Balls are based on industrial magnesium oxide and refractory kaolin. Made by scientific formula, shaping and high temperature calcination. It is the most effective method of slag splashing technology for furnace protection.
 

Classification of Lightly Calcined Magnesium Balls

Lightly calcined magnesium balls are divided into ordinary light calcined magnesium balls and high magnesium light calcined magnesium balls. The ordinary magnesium balls are suitable for converters and conversion furnaces in the sulfuric acid and fertilizer industries. The High-magnesium light-burned magnesium balls are suitable for hot air furnaces and heating shift furnaces in urea and steel industries.

Lightly Burned Magnesium Balls Uses

Lightly burned magnesium balls, especially suitable for high and low temperature shift furnaces, reformers, hydroconverters, desulfurization tanks and methanation furnaces in fertilizer plants. It plays the role of dispersing gas and liquid, supporting, covering and protecting the catalyst. Lightly burned magnesium balls can also be used in hot blast stoves and heating transformation equipment in the steel industry.
 

How to Use Lightly Calcined Magnesium Balls

After the steel is discharged from the converter, nitrogen is blown with an oxygen lance. The residual slag containing a certain amount of MgO in the furnace is evenly splashed onto the furnace wall to achieve the role of protective furnaces' refractories lining, which can greatly improve the life of the converter.
 
To achieve slag splashing technology for furnace protection, the slag must have appropriate viscosity and refractoriness. The general slag can not be directly splashed to protect the furnace. Adding an appropriate amount of lightly calcined magnesium balls to the slag is the most effective way to achieve this goal. The use of magnesium oxide balls replaces the use of dolomite. The amount of slag is reduced and the content of MgO in the slag is increased.

Lightly Calcined Magnesium Balls are made by using light burned magnesium powder as the main raw material, adding water and binder at the same time and mixing to form balls and drying. It reacts quickly with slag, has good slag adjustment effect, can improve the melting point and viscosity of slag, and is an ideal product for slag making and slag splashing.

The Principle of Lightly Calcined Magnesium Ball Slag Splashing

If the content of CaO in the slag is sufficient, the main component of the lightly calcined  magnesium oxide ball may be MgO. By adjusting the operation of MgO in the slag, the purpose of reducing the slag superheat and thickening the slag can be achieved. The use of C - O reaction C (FeO) = Fe + CO reduces the FeO content in the slag and the saturation solubility of MgO, making it easier for MgO in the slag to reach or exceed the saturation value. Therefore, the modified slag has higher refractoriness and suitable viscosity to meet the conditions of slag splashing technology.
